Since 2010, the Spanish club have been relegated to the Segunda Divisio twice but there was a time once when Deportiva were the champions of Spain. In the 1999-2000 season, Deportivo became the second smallest city after Real Sociedad to win the Spanish title. They followed the next two seasons by being the runners up.
