From one Portuguese midfielder to another, Deco played alongside Messi during his time at Barcelona. Deco himself was a very creative player, as he was at the heart of the side that won the UCL in 2004. The man was born Brazilian but he couldn’t find his way into the national side, so switched to Portugal instead. Deco made 75 appearances for his new nation, even taking them to the final of the 2004 Euros. When he was at his prime, Messi and Ronaldo were just finding their feet in the game. Little did he know then that both would go on to become world-beaters.
