2) The longest period between World Cup triumphs
The record currently belongs to Italy who won after 44 years since their first triumph in 1938. The Azzuris could not make it this time and that will see two other nations battling for the record. Uruguay and England. Uruguay hasn’t won the World Cup since 1950 and if they lift the trophy this time it will be 68 long years. On the other hand, England will make it 52 years if they win the FIFA World Cup 2018.
Uruguay is the likelier of the two, as they boast of experience and determination whilst England is a team in transition and going by their previous Cup competition performances it will be a miracle if they pull off anything special in this World Cup.
