5 Legends Who Retired From Football Last Year
5) Steven Gerrard
The Liverpool legend called his time finally after an illustrious eighteen-year career. One of the most celebrated footballers of all time, Gerrard surprisingly failed to win a league title with the Reds. He led the Merseyside club to many great wins; unarguably one of those would be the historic night in Istanbul. Trailing 3-0 to Milan at half time, Gerrard scored the first goal, which laid the foundation for one of the greatest comebacks of all time. His lowest moment came against Chelsea in 2014, when in a crunch match it was Gerrard’s slip, which gifted Chelsea the only goal. The defeat all but ended Liverpool hopes of winning the league title. He joined LA Galaxy to see out his career in the MLS. A true legend, Gerrard is expected to join Klopp’s staff in a coaching role.
