5. Matt Le Tissier
As a Premier league commentator rightly said, ‘You know there is danger around when Le Tissier is over the ball’. ‘Le God’ as Southampton fans called him, was a supremely gifted player. He was an inspirational dribbler with an eye for goal from anywhere on the field. Matt spent his entire career playing for the Saints, scoring 161 goals in 443 appearances on the way. Despite delighting the crowd with frequent long range strikes, fans wanted more from the Englishman. They criticized him for spending too much time in pubs and not doing justice to his potential. Ultimately the bottle did cost him, as Le Tissier could never become an athlete and take his game to the next level.
